Guardian Angels – and other God given messengers

Guardian Angels

No harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

Psalm 91: 10-12

Everywhere we go – they follow with us.

You have guardian angels with you all time, who love you unconditionally.

You don’t earn them, they exist just for you – from the beginning of your earth life to the end of it.

I paint the angels I’m allowed to see.

I give colours and shape for the grace from God.

Angels and other messengers

The English word “angel” comes originally from the Greek word angelos, which means ‘messenger’.

God created angels and gave them great wisdom and power.

Both the New Testament and Old Testament tells about them, usually when they carry out  God’s missions.

Angels are eternal – as Jesus mentioned when he said:

“They which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God. being the children of the resurrection.” (Luke 20:35.36)

Archangel Gabriel appeared several times in connection to the birth of Jesus Christ.

First he was sent  twice to the prophet Daniel. On the second occasion Daniel was praying when he proceeded the prophesy of the date of the first coming of  Jesus Christ (Daniel 9:21-27).

At the time when Jesus Christ was about to be born, Gabriel came firstly to Zacharias the priest and then to Mary (Jesus mother).

He announced the miraculous birth of John the Baptist to Zacharias by starting his message with words:

“I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God: and am sent to speak unto thee” (Luke 1:19).

Gabriel announced directly the purpose of his visit and it´s God given nature.

Six months later, Gabriel appeared to Mary and he said:

“Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

He told Mary that she would conceive through the power of the Holy Spirit and her son would be Jesus, the Saviour, and he would be the Son of God.

“Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.

You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.

The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

(Luke 1:26-33)

Jesus birth in Bethlehem was witnessed of divine approval and it was seen by shepherds:

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

But the angel said to them,

“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

(Luke 2:9-14)
