A Rag Doll is Painting

December 16, 2013

I feel like an old rag doll.

Some of the pieces are missing and others are falling off.

I’m hanging around,

thrown on the couch, topsy-turvy with all kind of pillows.

*

I have a belt around my chest, above the breast area.

It’s pretty tight and my arms are hanging like doll’s arms.

I sleep on the couch, sitting and watching television,

it seems, that there is only one position that is comfortable enough for sleeping.

Then I wake up again, and walk for a moment.

*

No physical pains,

just a mental burden.

Painting takes my thoughts away from myself.

*

I work with different versions of the Virgin Mary at the same time.
Some of the paintings are resting, while I start with a new one.
I have been working with a series of 12 Holy Madonnas for a while.

They are inspired from different cultures and eras.

Today it’s a turn for this “Scandinavian plain” icon.

Painting icons is praying.

My choice for today:

Salve Regina

Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiae,
vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Hevae,
ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.

Eia, ergo, advocata nostra, illos tuos
misericordes oculos ad nos converte;
et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis post hoc exilium ostende.
O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this vale of tears.

Turn then, most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us;
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

There is a different interpretation of the Salve Regina and

I like to end today’s post with a another type of mood,

Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act:

I hope you liked it?
